About NauMai NZ
Kia ora, welcome!
NauMai NZ is for international students studying or about to study with New Zealand. It's an opportunity to get useful information to help you experience our land, lifestyle and culture, and navigate daily life along the way!
Our name
New Zealand is your home away from home and that's why we created NauMai NZ.
NauMai comes from the Māori phrase, 'Nau mai'. It's a welcome and an invitation to come forward and be part of something special. We invite you to become part of our unique lifestyle and culture while encouraging you to celebrate your own.
Spoken aloud, NauMai NZ sounds like 'know my NZ'. New Zealand is now your home too! You belong here and we hope you take an active role in creating your new life.
NauMai NZ is a partner to Study with New Zealand(external link that opens in a new tab). Study with New Zealand assists students considering New Zealand as an option for study, while NauMai NZ is especially for students, like you, who have already chosen it as their study destination.
Our mission is to help you
Living in another country takes courage. It can be exciting and scary, and it's common to feel homesick.
It might also be your first time living away from family and friends, and perhaps you're still learning English too. That's a lot to manage, even for the most experienced traveller!
So it's important you can find information to support your wellbeing and daily life during your time in New Zealand. Whether it's your first day or final year – we want to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
We've designed NauMai NZ with this in mind. Future, current and past international students, as well as experts from government and education, have helped inform and create NauMai NZ.
We aim to offer you an experience that is helpful, personal and presents information in a way that can be accessed and understood easily.
We also welcome your feedback. When you're reading a page, give us a 'thumbs up' if the content is useful, and a 'thumbs down' if it's not. Remember, you can help us make NauMai NZ even better! Is there something you'd like to see on NauMai NZ? Send us a message on Facebook(external link that opens in a new tab) or Instagram(external link that opens in a new tab).
Sometimes we might mention a private business or commercial entity to help you understand where something is, what products or services are available, or to give you an idea of the cost of living. These are examples only, they may change, and are not a direct or official endorsement.
