Getting to New Zealand might take you a long time in a plane, but when you're here it's easy to get around with many transportation options. Find out the easiest ways for getting around New Zealand when studying here.

Flying

Flying is a good choice for getting around the country fast, and if you find a good deal on flights it can work out cheaper than other forms of travel. You can fly between all New Zealand cities and most major towns.

Air New Zealand(external link that opens in a new tab) and Jetstar(external link that opens in a new tab) are the main providers but there are also regional airlines, charter companies and scenic flight companies. Flights in New Zealand are easy to organise and relatively affordable.

Ferries

The interisland ferries are a great way to enjoy the scenery. Regular ferries sail between Wellington and Picton, and it takes about 3 and a half hours each way.

Interislander(external link that opens in a new tab) and Bluebridge Ferry(external link that opens in a new tab) are the providers of  services. Ferry travel is easy to organise, and the price depends on how far in advance you buy your ticket. You can take your car on the ferry too, but this will cost extra.
